The Balcony Dogs (The Sex Gods) - Live (1987)



On December 15th, 1987, the Sex Gods (Balcony Dogs) played at Liverpool Polytechnic Haigh Hall. The line-up consisted of Andy Eastwood (vocals, formed Crash Course), Steve Johnson (guitars, former Wah Heat, Ellery Bop), Mike Mooney (guitars), Carl Washington (bass, ex Wah!), and Gary Dwyer (drums, ex Teardrop Explodes, Black).

The Sex Gods - Demo (1986)

Unearthed demo recorded in New Orleans in January 1986 by the first stable line-up consisting of Pete De Freitas, Andy Eastwood, Tim Whittaker, Steve ‘Johnno’ Johnson.

Chinese Religion - My Motive (1981)


Based in Woodchurch, on the Wirral, Chinese Religion was formed in 1979 by Paul Cavanagh (guitar, later Balcony, Room, Holy Joes), Derek Jones (bass, later of Fabulous Salamander), Justin Stavely (drums, later Wild Swans), James Wetson (keyboards, later Cooling Towers), and David Lee Stark (vocals, later Dust Choir). They contributed songs for the Street to Street Volume 2 Compilation (namely, Eden and Chambers) and the compilation tape Episode 3. In 1981 the band released their first and only single (1981).

Jeanet Smith featured on violin, and Joe Mckechnie (of Modern Eon, later Passage and Balcony) on drums. In late 1981 Chinese Religion disbanded.
