A project lasted a couple of years (1979-80) by Dave Balfe (on keyboards, ex Big in Japan, Dalek I Love You, future Teardrop Explodes) and Bill Drummond (on guitar and vocals, ex Big in Japan, future KLF), both Zoo Records executives, featuring art student Lori Lartey (on vocals, later in Dangerous Years with husband Martin Healy of Dead or Alive). The trio benefited from the collaboration of Tim Whittaker (on drums, ex Deaf School, Sex Gods, and Gale Force), Gary Dwyer (also on drums, of The Teardrop Explodes) and occasionally Ray Martinez (on trumpet). The band released two singles:

Touch (August 1979)
- Touch (Drummond / Balfe)
- Love on the Ganges (Balfe / Drummond / Ward)

The Lonely Spy (April 1980)
- The Lonely Spy (Drummond / Balfe)
- Peru (Drummond / Balfe)
The singles (both produced by Balfe and Drummond, under the name of The Chameleons) were subsequently reissued on different labels, and on different compilation (ultimately on To the Shore of Lake Placid and on Zoo Uncaged)

Huge thanks for sharing both Lori & The Chameleons singles, it must be nearly thirty years since I last heard them! They actually sound incredibly fresh and almost contemporary in the delivery style...Without Balfe, Drummond and the rest of the late 70s/early 80s Liverpool alumini, the entire post-punk sonic landscape would look, feel and sound very different imho.
Once again, huge thanks for stimulating my nostalgia neurons!
